Psychological Evaluations
Psychological evaluations help us understand how you (or your child) think, feel, and function in daily life. We use these assessments to clarify diagnoses, guide treatment, and support you in school, work, and relationships.
What Is a Psychological Evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a structured, in‑depth assessment that may include:
- A detailed clinical interview
- Standardized questionnaires
- Cognitive and emotional tests
- Input from parents, teachers, or other providers (when helpful)
Our goal is not to “label” you, but to build a clear picture of your strengths, challenges, and needs.
Who Might Benefit
Psychological evaluations can be helpful if you are:
- Unsure which diagnosis best explains your symptoms
- Experiencing mood, anxiety, or behavior changes
- Struggling at school or work and need clarity or accommodations
- Seeking a second opinion or updated assessment
- A parent wanting to better understand your child’s emotional or behavioral difficulties
If you’re not sure whether an evaluation is right for you, we can help you decide.
What to Expect: Step‑by‑Step
1. Initial Consultation
We start with a conversation about your concerns, history, and goals. Together, we decide which type of evaluation is most appropriate.
2. Testing Sessions
You’ll complete a series of questionnaires and standardized tests. These may look at thinking skills, attention, memory, mood, personality, and everyday functioning. For children, we use age‑appropriate tools and breaks as needed.
3. Information Gathering
With your permission, we may request records or speak with other providers, schools, or family members to get a fuller picture.
4. Scoring and Interpretation
Your clinician carefully reviews and interprets all results, integrating test data with your history and current concerns.
5. Feedback Session
We meet with you (and parents/caregivers, when appropriate) to explain the findings in clear, everyday language. You’ll have time to ask questions and discuss next steps.
How the Results Are Used
Your evaluation results can:
- Clarify or refine diagnoses
- Guide therapy, medication, or other treatments
- Support school or workplace accommodations
- Inform medical or legal decisions when needed
- Help you and your family better understand patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behavior
You’ll receive a written report that summarizes the findings and provides practical, individualized recommendations.
Our Approach
We know that being evaluated can feel stressful or vulnerable. We focus on:
- A respectful, non‑judgmental environment
- Clear explanations at every step
- Culturally sensitive and evidence‑based tools
- Collaborative planning for what comes next
Our aim is to make the process as comfortable and transparent as possible.
